A new gratitude

The Iron Kahuna is now three weeks without a workout. He's dying.
When he gets back on his feet after surgery (he'll be able to start swimming and Pilates next week), he'll never again take a workout from granted. The only danger is that he'll start working out too much, too soon when he's finally able to bike and then run.
The doc said it will a full eight months until his feet are completely back to normal, but it will only be another three weeks before he can start working out in earnest. The journey to Ironman Arizona in November begins with the first workout -- one that the Kahuna will especially cherish.

I'm sure you're counting the days to start swimming and doing pilates, I know I'd be. Just remember to take it easy at the beginning!!
I have about a 6 month head start on you in recovery training, but will it be enough.....? I see a Boston Marathon finish developing-- you crawling, me dragging my wooden leg behind me....hahahahhahahhahhahahaahahha...oh, maybe that's not funny
What do you have in mind for that first workout?
You are going to have a stellar recovery. Listen to your body. Rest when it says to, just don't listen to your mind. At least at our house, it is almost never right! =0)
That is definitely hard to take time off from training. When you CAN train, it's often so easy to find reasons not to. But boy, when the choice is taken away from you it really sucks. When I was sick in the fall and I took some time off, I would see all these people jogging outside and be so sad!
You will make it.
Hugs,
Jenny
Keep close watch on your recovery and make note of how much stronger you're getting every week. You'll be amazed at your progress.
Stay tuned...
